There is an art form to administering lip injections. Luckily, for me, I had the honor of having my lips done by Advanced Aesthetic Injector, Michelle Giglio, PA-C, at Robinson Facial Plastic Surgery.
About five years ago, I had my lips done and it was a terrible experience. I was in so much pain and my top lip ended up larger than my bottom lip. But I could tell from my treatment consultation that this time would be entirely different!
During my consultation, Michelle advised me that taking any kind of blood thinner before the treatment could be bad because added bleeding could make the process go much slower and lengthen the amount of time needed to heal. I followed instructions and did not take any blood thinners beforehand. While every patient’s experience is different, I barely bled at all during my lip injection process.
Before the procedure began, my lips were numbed for about 20 minutes. On top of that, the injections themselves have lidocaine in them, which helps to continue the numbing process. So, I really couldn’t feel anything. Michelle’s skilled needlework made me relaxed and excited for my results rather than nervous.
The whole treatment took about an hour including the numbing time. Like I said before, I couldn’t feel the injections happening since my lips were numb but I was excited that the fullness was happening immediately. I am so pleased with my results. I have always wanted a fuller lip but was worried about looking too “done.” Michelle explained to me her process of pinpointing horizontally and vertically where to place the injections to make the lips appear symmetrical so the results create a natural-looking amount of fullness.
The great thing about these injections is that you can always start small and then add on once you see the results. Michelle understands that the process to get your preferred look can take time and she works with her clients to ensure their happiness.
