Ronnel Blackmon, Charismatic Leader and Community Champion

Ronnel Blackmon

Ronnel Blackmon ran his first marathon at 40 and he hasn’t slowed down since. The magnetic entrepreneur and Atlanta Track Club emcee believes that every moment is an opportunity to serve and uplift others, and he’s dedicated his life to doing so. Whether he’s raising money for education scholarships, supporting children’s health initiatives or mentoring the next generation of leaders, he’s knocking down barriers and building people up—one stride at a time.

What’s the most important lesson you’ve learned?
Life can change in an instant, so living with purpose and gratitude is key. Attitude is everything—when you show genuine care, people feel it. I aim to live each day fully and encourage others to do the same. Time is a gift, and using it to serve, learn and grow is how I try to leave a lasting impact.

What do you love most about being over 40?
Age has given me perspective and confidence to try new things, embrace growth and set a higher standard for how I live. I’ve learned that failure isn’t final—it’s a lesson that gets you closer to your goals. Life doesn’t slow down after 40; it gets more purposeful.

How do you use your passion to give back to others?
My favorite way to give back is through my work with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and their Strong4Life initiative. I visit schools across Georgia, teaching kids about health and wellness through interactive pep rallies. Running for a cause is another passion of mine—whether supporting Kilometer Kids or the Kyle Pease Foundation, these opportunities allow me to blend my love for fitness with my commitment to creating positive change in the community.

What do you aim to achieve as an In-Training Run Lead with the Atlanta Track Club?
I want to show people that running is about “your race at your pace.” No two journeys are the same, and success is simply giving your best. It’s about showing up and appreciating the process and the people around you. Whether through words or actions, when you get moving, you inspire others to do the same.

What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?
The best advice I’ve received is that success catches up to the investment you’ve made in serving others. It may not come when you want, but when it arrives, it’s because of the groundwork you’ve laid.
