How do you define strength, and how has your definition evolved over time?
I define strength as the fusion of grit and grace, the resolve to show up and do the work even when it’s uncomfortable and the wisdom to stay compassionate toward myself and others while doing it. When I was younger, I equated strength with sheer endurance and powering through. Over time, that definition has softened and deepened. Real strength, I’ve learned, isn’t about being unshakable. It’s about staying present and grounded when life shakes you. It’s being willing to ask for help, to rest and to keep moving forward with integrity, especially on the days when motivation is nowhere to be found.
What is the one thing you’ve learned to appreciate with age?
I cherish the spaces between life’s big events and milestones, the quiet moments where time seems to slow, and I have the freedom to simply meander, ponder and reflect, following wherever the moment may lead.
How do you decide what charities and communities to focus your energy on?
I’m drawn to opportunities where I can personally connect with the people I’m serving. I like to be boots on the ground, whether that’s offering pro bono mental healthcare to individuals facing financial hardship or partnering with grassroots organizations that stay close to those who need support the most.
