Jessie DanvilleJessie Danville

After losing her mother, Jessie Danville turned unimaginable loss into a catalyst for lasting change. What began as a personal mission to heal soon became a lifestyle rooted in consistency and self-respect. Now a certified nutrition coach and founder of Fit4Jessie, Danville uses her own transformation to help others build sustainable habits, prioritize their health and become stronger for themselves and the people who depend on them.

What set you on your wellness journey?

My mother passed away from COVID in 2020. She had been unhealthy my whole life, which caused her to develop early-onset dementia and make her more vulnerable. In the past, I had nearly died from alcoholism myself and decided I wouldn’t let my 11- and 7-year-old sons see me go that way. Those experiences were enough for me to do everything I could to avoid that outcome. Whether that be better nutrition, getting sober, weightlifting, walking, sleep, stress maintenance or anything in between.

What’s your advice for those struggling to get started?

The hardest part is realizing no one’s coming to drag you out. No one can eat the meals for you, move your body for you, put your phone down for you, go to bed or plan for you. No one but you. Health isn’t a trait people are born with. It’s a skill. You practice. You forget. You start again. You keep going anyway. And one day, without even realizing it, the things that once felt impossible start feeling familiar. It wasn’t too late for me, and it isn’t too late for you. Every morning you wake up is another chance to begin again.

Matt Burden

Matt Burden

What started as a 100-day burpee challenge for Matt Burden became a lifetime commitment to redefine what his body was capable of. Over the past decade, he’s tackled over 40 obstacle course races, 3 Spartan Ultras, multiple marathons and a half Ironman, proving that age is just a number.

How has your workout routine evolved?

In search of a new challenge after completing 100 burpees a day for 100 days, I joined Strongside Fitness for the CrossFit Open and quickly realized I still had a long way to go. The process took years, but this year I qualified for the CrossFit Semifinals, with a chance to compete in my age group (50-54) at the CrossFit Games.

What’s your best fitness advice?

The best way to keep progressing, especially in your 50s, is to challenge yourself in new ways. Our bodies are capable of so much more than we think. Stay active and don’t shy away from pushing your limits.

Yvette Shushok

Yvette Shushok

After being diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, Yvette Shushok decided to reclaim her health and no longer let 350 pounds weigh down her future. Through daily movement and intentional lifestyle changes, Shushok has transformed not only her physical health, but her outlook on life.

What inspired you to focus on your health?

As I got older, it became more difficult to move and function. I remember going to Iceland and there were so many places I didn’t get to visit because I couldn’t hike to where the scenery was. I realized I didn’t want to miss out on life due to my health.

What changes made the biggest impact?

I had gastric sleeve surgery in 2024, which helped me lose 65 pounds, and I also incorporated long walks into my routine. In 2025, I started personal training with Marie Dedrick at Snap Fitness. She creates personalized workout plans to help meet my specific goals. Between the surgery, cardio and consistent personal training, I’ve lost over 150 pounds!
