In partnership with the Sara Blakely Foundation, speakers will include Soledad O’Brien, Sara Blakely, founder of Spanx, Inc. and the Sara Blakely Foundation, Catherine Brewton, VP Writer/Public Relations at BMI and co-chair of Hope for Harvest Foundation, and McKenzie Coan, paralympic gold medalist, and U.S. National Swim Team member.

“What we were looking for [in terms of speakers] for the young women who attend our conference are examples of women who are wildly successful, but who are okay with speaking very bluntly about some of the challenges of getting there,” says O’Brien.

Not just a conference to inspire, O’Brien hopes attendees will come away with tangible lessons and advice to achieve their professional goals. Saying, “What’s key for us is that the young women who come to a PowHERful conference then get internship and mentorship opportunities in their own backyard.”

The PowHERful™ Foundation was created by Soledad O’Brien and Brad Raymond in 2011. Its mission, as Soledad says, is to “get girls to and through” college. So far, the foundation serves 25 collegiate scholars and uses its conference platform to build up the next generation of female leaders across America.
