Shuvar Rodgers: Entertainment Powerhouse
It wasn’t always live audiences and recording studios for Shuvar Rodgers. Despite a love for the spotlight, path-to-success stereotypes had him stuck in corporate America and behind a desk for much of his early career. It wasn’t until he had
no card left but the one he was born with that he finally pursued a life in the entertainment industry, acting, promoting and hosting radio shows and live events. Today, he’s won multiple on-air awards and rubbed shoulders with celebrities like Rick Ross, Drake and Anthony Hamilton, now using his success to inspire others to stay true to who they know they want to be.
Can you share a personal philosophy that guides your life?
“If the dream is big enough, the facts don’t matter.” I have always believed in writing my own ticket and creating my own reality. Those things keep me focused and driven. And ultimately, I have the desire to succeed and not be another average guy.
What are you most proud of?
Staying true to my beliefs. So many people compromise who they are every single day to conform to societal ideals about right and wrong. I say, focus on your own ideas of where you should go. You are exactly where you want to be, regardless of whether you admit it or not. The amazing part about that is that if you find yourself somewhere you don’t want to be, all you have to do is choose not to be there.
How do you balance your commitment to your career and family?
Family is incredibly important to me, whether blood family or my chosen family of friends. I rely on them in so many ways, especially on those days when life has done its best to beat you down, those are the days when family will be the shield that keeps it at bay.
How do you stay motivated during hard times?
I feel like one of the ways I keep myself going is my continued focus on where I want to go. I know it sounds cliche, but work keeps me young. I wear many hats and am thankful for the opportunity to wear them well.
