Fabulous Connections
What Best Self‘s Over 40 & Fabulous! Is Really All About
Best Self doesn’t just exist within the pages of this magazine or on your computer. Thanks to you all, Best Self exists out in the community. It’s a community that thrives and gives back based on connections made between the outstanding people and experts we have the privilege of introducing to each other.
As we gear up for the 2023 Over 40 & Fabulous! Season, I was recently inspired by a connection formed between two Over 40 & Fabulous! alum, 2015 cover winner Michelle Hodgson and 2020 cover winner Joanne Feldman. At the core of Over 40 & Fabulous! is the mission to give back to the community, and these exceptional women have gone above and beyond to do just that.
Michelle and Joanne’s collaboration was a powerful union of two individuals with mutual give-back goals. Michelle aims to create opportunities for children through her nonprofit, Children Helping Children, while Joanne seeks to empower more young women and people through STEM. Together, they recently created a three- part series called STEM & SERVICE, benefiting Children Helping Children’s nonprofit partner, GiGi’s Playhouse.
“The greatest gift from being part of Best Self’s Over 40 & Fabulous! community has been the opportunity to collaborate and connect with like-minded individuals to help others,” said Michelle.
Joanne, a meteorologist at Fox5, spent the day teaching young adults from GiGi’s Playhouse about weather and its impact on their daily lives. “I feel so blessed to have been able to speak with this group about one of my favorite subjects! I think I may have recruited a few new “weather spotters,” too,” joked Joanne.
Stories like this are why I created Best Self and why we continue to host the Over 40 & Fabulous contest. If you or someone you know is interested in being part of our community, please consider nominating yourself or a loved one for our 2023 class. Nominations open May 25 at www.bestselfatlanta.com/over-40-fab-2023. Don’t miss out!
Cheers to many more connections,
Sherri Adair, Founder
