Birdcage Atlanta Brings A Fusion of Latin Flavors and South Beach Flair to Grant Park

Birdcage Atlanta

When Leslie Cohen was opening her new Latin-inspired concept in Grant Park, she chose the name “Birdcage” not only as a nod to their chicken-centric menu, but as an homage to the classic 1996 Robin Williams film of the same name.

The energy of South Beach in the 90s dominates Birdcage Atlanta’s playful, eclectic decor and colorful plates. The dynamic atmosphere features ‘whimsical’ cocktails and elevated Latin dishes, like their Black Bean Croquettes, Sofrito Squash, and Chopped Tostada Salad—all made to be enjoyed at the vibrant bar, in a cozy booth or outside on the dog-friendly patio.

Cohen describes Birdcage Atlanta as a “triple threat” of decor, energetic staff and a chef-driven menu. The team strives to deliver an amazing meal to every patron while curating a dining experience that leaves guests with a lasting impression.

Beverage Director Alli Estadt crafted a lively cocktail and mocktail menu featuring unique frozen drink options that go hand in hand with the food menu. To compliment the overall energy of the space, the cocktails are given playful names like the Short, Fat, Mango Thing (ghost blanco spicy tequila, dulce vida pineapple jalapeño tequila, mango liqueur, banana and lime) or the Look At Your Pinky (vodka, prickly pear liqueur, Aperol, lime and tonic).

Cohen, winner of the Food Network’s Cutthroat Kitchen, has been a staple of the Atlanta dining scene for over a decade. Alongside her for Birdcage Atlanta is Executive Chef Shaun Whitmer, who was one of the talented brains behind the dynamic menu at Firepit Pizza Tavern. The dynamic duo will combine their diverse culinary backgrounds in order to bring a vibrant and innovative Latin menu to the Grant Park restaurant scene.

Located directly alongside the team’s first concept, Firepit, this new restaurant pledges to be community-oriented, as Cohen and Whitmer love partnering with local organizations and businesses to stay better connected with their neighbors.
