My Best Self: Kimberly Hard

As CEO of the Be Well Atlanta wellness alliance, it’s Kimberly Hard’s job to help others live their healthiest, most fulfilled lives. But between running her rapidly growing business, leading yoga classes at venues around Atlanta like the Georgia Aquarium and raising her 11-year-old daughter, Stella, we wondered how Kimberly maintains balance in her own life. Here’s what she shared:

What’s your favorite part of your job?
My favorite part is creating a community of like-minded people who have health and wellness as their primary focus.

Your least favorite?
It’s difficult to see the suffering that comes from poor health and not be able to do something about it fast enough.

What special challenges do you face as a business owner and entrepreneur?
My greatest challenge is maintaining a balance between work and the other parts of my life.

What’s the hardest lesson you’ve ever learned?
There is truth to the adage that it’s best to keep business and friendship separate.

What has been your greatest achievement?
My greatest achievement has been to follow my passion to serve others in this arena, and also to be a conscious and loving parent to my precious daughter, Stella.

What do you see as the keys to being your “best self”?
Gratitude for the abundance in my life is fundamental, along with applying a daily spiritual and physical practice to maintain a “quiet mind” and good health.

What one piece of advice or wisdom would you give someone trying to change his or her life for the better?
Let go of past regrets and self-doubt while staying in the present moment. Above all, be clear on exactly what you want and desire in life. Understand that anything you want to create or manifest begins with your own thoughts. Finally, surround yourself with empowering people. We hear you love exotic foods.

What are five you could not live without?
I can’t live without Kombucha mushroom and yerba mate teas, Argentinean Alfajores Dulce de Leche cookies, Pho Vietnamese noodle soup, hummus with fresh vegetables and anything from Neo, The Mansion on Peachtree’s farm-to-table organic restaurant.

What’s your No. 1 beauty secret?
My top secret is daily yoga and meditation—inner peace and tranquility are fundamental to outer beauty.

What’s your fitness regimen?
Sunrise yoga followed by 30-minute meditation, swimming and working out with kettlebells.

What’s your idea of the perfect summer getaway?
Visiting my sister Leslie in Milan, Italy; visiting my other sister Courtney in Sydney, Australia; lazing beneath a palapa on the beach or diving with the whale sharks in Tulum, Mexico.
