Laura Mooney

Laura Mooney is known as many things: athlete, business owner, mother, investor, mountain climber, art collector and all-around adventurer. The creative mind behind LYGATM and HATHAWAY Contemporary Gallery, the 47-year-old subscribes to the mantra that we should all embrace whatever it is that makes us grateful to get up every morning and to see the joy in every opportunity. Whether she is repelling down waterfalls in Costa Rica, zip lining through the jungle or climbing to Mount Everest base camp, Mooney is an unstoppable force who lets nothing get in her way.
What is your favorite way to give back to your community?
I support numerous nonprofit organizations in Atlanta, but my favorite is Julie’s Dream, which provides youth in under-resourced communities the chance to experience the hope and love of Jesus Christ by participating in outdoor wilderness adventures. Nothing is more fulfilling than seeing the smile on a child’s face when they are taking their first hike in the woods or catching their first fish out of a beautiful lake.
How would your friends and family describe you?
I would think my friends and family would describe me as determined and loyal. My community is the most important thing in my life, and I care about each of them dearly!
Where do you see yourself in 20 years?
I hope to continue creating a community that inspires and empowers people to discover and fearlessly pursue their passions. In 20 years, I see myself still being the best mom I can be while finding the time to climb mountains with my children and grandchildren.
