Q: What Causes Age Spots and How Can I Get Rid of Them?
A: As we age, genetics and sun exposure catch up with us all, leaving what are commonly referred to as sun spots or age spots. These usually darker tan, brown or black spots, of varying sizes, most commonly appear on the face, hands, shoulders, upper back and arms. The fact is the sun’s rays reduce our skin’s natural ability to repair itself. As it tries to repair the damaged areas, a pigment called melanin is secreted to help the body protect your skin from further damage, thus creating these spots. We have multiple treatments available for the treatment of age spots, and truly love to cater the specific treatment for each patient. These treatments include chemical peels of varying strengths and laser treatments, such as the IPL photofacial and VBeam pulse dye laser. Above all else, medical-grade skincare and sunscreen help tremendously long-term.
